Skate Punk
Skate punk originated around the South West, mostly Southern California, Arizona and wherever. The most famous skate punk or skate rock band is Suicidal Tendencies. Other skate punk bands would be McRad, JFA (Jodie Foster’s Army and Drunk Injuns. The scene basically started because the bands and fans liked skateboarding and like punk. The interesting thing about the sound is that a lot a bands would go on tangents and throw in metal, reggae, ska, surf and other things that were at the time curveballs to the punk scene.
Punk As A Doornail considers themselves a skate punk band. It’s almost the extreme since we use a skateboard guitar as our primary instrumentation.
